OSRAM LED components provide contemporary industrial lighting in the company’s new plant

OSRAM Digital Lighting Systems factory – Plovdiv, Bulgaria

To enable more flexible deliveries and shorter response times for its European customers, OSRAM has built a new factory for digital lighting components in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv. Opened in October 2017, production in the plant mainly focuses on LED drivers, but also on lighting management systems and traditional control gear bearing the “Made in Europe” seal of quality. Products from OSRAM provide modern lighting in the plant itself.

The demands of industrial lighting are high. The quality of light has to create a professional, safe and fatigue-free working environment for employees. User-friendly operation and demand-based control are also extremely important. At the same time, however, the economy factor is crucial. Especially in production facilities, which often provide little natural daylight and where shifts are worked around the clock, the lighting needs to be energy efficient, durable and robust to keep electricity, maintenance and downtime costs to a minimum.

Efficient combination: LED modules and drivers with Touch DIM

Therefore, perfectly matched LED modules and drivers from OSRAM Digital Lighting Systems are used in the new plant in Plovdiv. In production and in the warehouse PrevaLED Linear Slim LED modules ensure very homogeneous light in combination with OPTOTRONIC Intelligent DALI 80 drivers. In the offices the PrevaLED Linear Value LED modules, which can be put together to create seamless strips of light and are controlled by OTi DALI 50, provide very uniform, shadow-free illumination. All PrevaLED LED modules are much more durable, and thanks to a luminous efficacy of up to 160 lm/W, significantly more efficient than conventional T5 and T8 fluorescent lamps. The Touch DIM function of the DALI wide-range drivers reduces energy consumption even further. Not only does Touch DIM allow for simple control via pushbuttons and sensors, but also for automatic shutdown if there is sufficient residual light. The lighting concept in the plant is rounded off by recessed LED luminaires with PrevaLED Cube in combination with OT 20 DALI in the sanitary facilities, and the large OSRAM lettering on the roof of the plant which is evenly backlit by BackLED XL Plus LED strips.

Pioneering lighting concepts for industry

In conclusion, LED technology combines contemporary energy efficiency with low maintenance costs. When it comes to modern industrial lighting, there's no way around it. The production hall in Plovdiv is a prime example.
